Firewall Rules (IP/Host and Ports)

Firewall Rules (IP/Host and Ports)

In some cases, you or your client may need to Whitelist HIPAA LINK's preferred video service, Twilio, if you're experiencing call related issues.  The following sectors are likely to implement enhanced network restrictions:
  1. Hospitals
  2. Clinics
  3. Schools
  4. Government agencies, and
  5. Individuals who use Anti-Virus or Firewall programs to lock down their network.

Most common issues
The most common issues that arise from blocked IP's or Ports include:
  1. Calls drop every "x" minutes
  2. No Video or Audio in a call, even when devices are allowed
  3. Calls won't start

Firewall rules
Whitelist the following Host Names and Ports to your Firewall, then try another call to confirm this resolves your connectivity related issue.

Troubleshooting (Advanced)
Tip: check your browser's Developer Tools for hints of socket closures
Confirming firewall related issues can be done by viewing your browser's Developer Tools.

For example, using Google Chrome:
  1. Before starting a call, launch your Developer Tools, then click Network
  2. Start the call and wait for the issue to occur
  3. While watching your Developer Tools, look for red lines that refer to Web Sockets.
  4. Check the URL and Protocol of the error to see what is being blocked, then add that blocked connection to your Whitelist.
